Interests

We are interested in the interplay of multiscale mechanics and tissue regulation, with a specific focus on largely deformable biomaterials relying on fiber networks, such as connective tissues, epithelia, and their surrogates. Central to our research is the development of novel experimental approaches and corresponding nonlinear computational models.

Overview of multiscale biomechanics research interests

We aim to distill bioinspired design principles, and harness them to direct tissue regulation and implant integration via rationally-designed biomaterials that incorporate selected physical and biochemical cues and can release them in a controlled fashion.

Overview of bioinspired materials research interests

We are also deeply committed to training the next generation of (bio-)engineers who will make such innovations a concrete reality.
