Kameron Young, a Biomedical Engineering Student in the School of Engineering and Materials Science, has organised The Link Up, a virtual conference taking place on Friday 9th August.

Over the past year Kameron has been producing and hosting a podcast, Kameron’s Lab | Dive In, and through its success, she has been invited to multiple conferences. After being inspired by what she learnt at these events, Kameron decided to organise a conference to share what she had learned and experienced.

“Through my podcast I aim to give students a resource where they can find role models through interviewing industry professionals. In my pursuit of introducing students to the wonders of STEM, I have attended a variety of conferences in London, Munich, Cannes, and Paris. My hope is that students are inspired by the amazing places STEM can take them and the interesting things being developed in the industry.”

Speakers include researchers and students from Cambridge University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Kings College and Queen Mary as well as industry professionals and a robot called Captcha.

Topics covered will include raising robots; genetics and molecular medicine; working in aerospace; and ethics and bias in AI.

The conference will be completely free to attend, find out more on the Kameron’s Lab website.
