The Soft Matter Group (SMG) at QMUL participated in the 12th European PhD symposium in rubber research. This year's event was brilliantly organised by Radek Stoček at the Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic. James Busfield said “This is a great annual meeting where relatively new PhD students from 12 of Europe’s most significant rubber research groups can network and present their work and future plans. It gentle introduction into the world of international rubber conferences.”

The QMUL team of Kirsty Rutherford (Relationship between Electrical and Mechanical Frequency Dependence of Carbon Black Filled NBR), Yutong Sun (Smart Hip Band with Stretchable Piezoresistive Sensors for Monitoring Activities and Posture) and María Munguía Romero (3D Printing as a Sustainable Alternative Manufacturing Route for Footwear Applications) all did a brilliant job at showcasing the wide range of rubber research that are being developed in the Soft Matter Group at QMUL.
