At the recent Students’ Union awards, Angela Jones won the Support Staff Member of the Year Award.

Support Staff Member of the Year Award is for that hard-working member of staff working hard behind the scenes, whose work has a real impact on the quality of your life at Queen Mary” said the Student’s Union.

At a ceremony in Drapers Hall, Angela was recognised for going above and beyond to create the best experience for Queen Mary’s students. Within SEMS, Angela embodies student support and has developed innovative solutions to enhancing student voice, for example, increasing awareness on feedback mechanisms available and contributing to supporting student-staff partnerships to improve the overall experience.

On winning the award, Angela said “I feel really touched to have been recognised. We are a community at Queen Mary and the support I receive from my colleagues, as well as course representatives and students, continually helps and encourages me.

The annual Students’ Union awards are nominated by staff and students and considered by panels made up of students, part-time representatives and Executive Officers who shortlist the entries and choose the winners. They recognise a variety of achievements over the course of the year.

Angela is now taking a one-year secondment, using her skills to benefit the whole university, as she joins the Student Experience Directorate, supporting projects to enhance the experience of all students at Queen Mary.
