On 23rd April 2024, Queen Mary hosted the annual alumni reception at the House of Lords.

A chance for past Queen Mary students to socialise with each other and Queen Mary staff, network and celebrate their achievements, and hear an update on the latest developments at Queen Mary from our President and Principal, Professor Colin Bailey CBE.

Hosted by Lord Tim Clement-Jones CBE, Chair of Queen Mary Council, all alumni of Queen Mary University of London and our founding institutions, Queen Mary, Westfield, Barts and The London were invited, across all schools and disciplines, and included drinks at parliament, overlooking the River Thames.

One SEMS alumn we met was Rami Heer who studied Civil Engineering at Queen Mary and now runs his own tech company working with major technology companies. He also runs a technology review YouTube channel, showing his personality and passion for all things tech.

Another of his passions is the Queen Mary community, saying he attends the alumni event every year; "I love the atmosphere there. You never felt like an outsider... I never felt different to anyone else... I felt like part of a team."
