Two highly talented undergraduate students engaged in research activities at the Queen Mary Centre of Undergraduate Research have presented their research findings at the prestigious Posters in Parliament event.

This conference offers a platform for outstanding scholars in the UK to share their insights with a wider audience and highlights the important role that students can play in pushing the boundaries of knowledge.

Ava Dahlia Belafonte, a second-year student in Mechanical Engineering, presented a poster titled 'Diversifying and Decolonizing the Curriculum'. Supervised by Dr Rehan Shah, Ava’s research delves into the critical aspects of curriculum development, aiming to bring diversity and decolonization to the forefront. Her work sheds light on innovative approaches to make educational content more inclusive and representative.

Enrico Gigantino, a second-year student in Chemical Engineering, presented his research on the 'Altered biomechanics analysis of prostate cancer patients using phantom and phantom-less densitometric calibrations'. The work is supervised by Dr Stefaan Verbruggen, and is focused on understanding biomechanical effects in patients undertaking treatments for prostate cancer. This research holds promise for advancing our understanding of the disease and improving diagnostic techniques.

This exhibition of student research does not only underscore the outstanding capabilities of our students, but it also emphasises our increasing commitment to providing them with opportunities in research to utilise their talent. We anticipate that these achievements will inspire and motivate other students to embark on these fascinating pathways of development.
